Crime and incident update

 Reported items stolen in the last week include
2 Stump grinders, 1 Transit van full of tools, 2 Batteries, 1 Digger,
Chainsaws, 1 Quadbike, 1 Electric bike, Lead roof, Jewellery, Cash,
Climbing ropes, Harnesses, Lanyards, Helmet, a Carabine, 1Trailer,
1 Range Rover and 1 Land Rover Defender.
The total value of reported rural crime this week is £179,500.00.

Arun 0310 27/04/2019 A barn to a property on Dairy Lane Walberton Arundel was forcefully entered and a large quantity of equipment has been stolen, this includes a yellow Carlton 7015 tracked stump grinder, a yellow Carlton SP210 pedestrian stump grinder, a Schliesing wood chipper, A yellow Ford Transit van that was full of hand tools. Value of the haul is in excess of £100,000:00

Chichester 0829 28/0/2019 Outbuildings in Marlpit Lane Emsworth have been broken into, whilst nothing was stolen from the outbuildings electric fence batteries were stolen from an adjacent field. Value £100.

Horsham 0342 27/04/2019 A red and white 2 Tonne Kubota Digger that was loaded on an Indispense trailer in Faygate Lane Faygate Horsham was stolen overnight. Value £4,500:00.
Lewes 0601 25/04/2019 A group of people have been seen riding dirt bikes, 4x4s and quad bikes down a large hill towards the river from Offham Road Offham Lewes, thus causing damage to the vegetation. This land is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) which is a place for Hearts Tongue Ferns and a species of Toad which are being damaged.
Mid Sussex 0301 27/04/2019 A farm in Birch Grove, Horsted Keynes Haywards Heath was entered and an outbuilding was forcefully entered and several items were removed and stolen, these include 1o chainsaws, climbing ropes, harnesses, lanyards, a helmet and a Carabine, valued at £9,000:00. Other items may have been stolen.
0348 28/04/2019 Premises in Haywards Heath Road Balcombe were entered and a Quadbike, 2 chainsaws, an aluminium quad box with agricon 1 pair binoculars, a spotting scope. Value £15,000:00.
Rother 0264 26/04/2019 An unsuccessful attempt was made to steal Diesel was made to a site in Watermill Lane Bexhill.
0309 27/04/2019 An unsuccessful attempt was made to enter a motor vehicle in Peasmarsh by drilling a hole in the door near to the lock, as this activated the alarm the intruder/s left.
0646 27/04/2019 A van parked in Roselands Drive Sedlescombe was entered by drilling a hole above the door lock and a Haibike electric hard 71 bicycle valued at £1,400:00 was stolen.
0970 30/04/2019 Person/s unknown have entered premises in Northiam Road Staplecross and stolen lead to the value of £700:00.
1357 29/04/2019 Detectives are investigating a robbery at a rural property in Etchingham.
Two masked men are reported to have forced their way into the house, in Fontridge Lane, shortly after 9.15pm on Monday 29 April.
The two occupants – a man and a woman – were alerted to the disturbance at the back door and challenged the intruders. During this, the man was punched to the face, and both occupants were bound on the floor using cable ties.
A search of the property was made, and the offenders got away with items including a jewellry and approximately £20,000 in cash.
They also stole a black Range Rover from the address, which was found burnt out shortly afterwards in nearby Church Lane.
Investigating officer, Inspector Jon Gillings, said: “This appears to be a pre-planned and targeted attack on a couple who were left understandably shaken following the incident. They are receiving the support they need at this time.
“Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
“Specifically, we would like to hear from anyone who saw anyone or anything suspicious in the area around the time of the offence, or in the days leading up to it.”
The first suspect is described as black, about 6’, in his mid to late 20s, of stocky build, wearing black gloves, black trousers, a black hoody, and blue and white Nike Air Max trainers.
The second suspect is described as white, wearing a black hoody, black tracksuit bottoms and a balaclava, and carrying a large knife.
Both suspects spoke an English accent.

Wealden 0242 22/04/2019 An outbuilding on a farm in Fletching Uckfield was broken into, nothing appears to be missing.
0202 25/04/2019 A car parked on a driveway of a farm in Withyham Road Withyham was broken into and £2:00 was stolen from the centre consul.
0306 28/04/2019 A metallic black Land Rover Defender has been stolen from premises in Hartfield. Chassis/VIN; SALLDHMS7AA791481. Engine No 100121025732244DT. 2.4 TDI. Valued at £25,000:00.
