Thefts from vehicles in Hailsham

There have been a few thefts from vehicles in the Hailsham area recently and Wealden police have put in place Operation Cackle to target those responsible. We want to ensure these thefts are stopped and as well as working around the clock to catch the criminals we appeal to those who live in the area to help us protect your property by ensuring you don’t put your vehicle at risk. Where possible always ensure that:

1. Your vehicle is properly closed and locked;
2. You don’t leave anything valuable on show in the car;
3. Try to park in a well-lit, busy area.

A recent patrol by PCSO’s in Hailsham and Polegate found numerous vehicles that had been left unlocked and a number of vehicles that contained valuable items on show. The owners of all the vehicles were visited and reminded of the importance of keeping property secure.

If you have any information regarding these offences or any other issues, please contact your local policing team via the email address wealden@sussex.pnn.police.uk. If you see anyone acting suspiciously please call us using 999 if the offender is in the act of committing an offence.
