News and appeals Witness appeal after man arrested over Worthing sexual assault
Police investigating the sexual assault of a woman in Worthing have made an arrest.
The victim, a woman in her 30s, was walking west along Richmond Road around 1.20am on Saturday (September 18) when she was approached by an unknown man.
After following and attempting to engage with the victim, the suspect sexually assaulted her near the junction with Christchurch Road, before she fled the scene.
Following an initial investigation, a man from Worthing was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.
Police are not looking for anybody else in connection with the incident, but are appealing for witnesses or anybody who has any information which could help the investigation to get in touch either online or by calling 101, quoting serial 208 of 18/09.
Teenager arrested following assault on boy in Worthing Park
Police investigating an assault on a boy in Worthing have made an arrest.
Officers were called to West Park, off Shaftsbury Avenue, at 4.06pm on Saturday 18 September following a report of an assault on a 14-year-old boy.
The victim suffered facial injuries in the assault, which happened around 3.30pm that day.
On Tuesday (September 21), officers arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was interviewed and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
PS Craig Burgess of Worthing Police said: "This was an unprovoked attack on a young victim and we have been able to make a swift arrest following a number of enquiries.
"We take violence against young people incredibly seriously and will always look to take positive action."
Sussex Police launches latest officer recruitment drive
Sussex Police has opened applications for new police officers as part of its commitment to bolster officer numbers across the county.
