Please see below a fantastic piece of good news !

Today Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust announced that we we have reached a significant milestone in our vaccination efforts, as they give the 500,000th jab at their vaccination centres.

Since opening the first centre at the Brighton Centre on 25 January, closely followed by sites in Crawley, Chichester & Eastbourne, we have seen people from all different roles from across the organisation come together to support the vaccination programme in Sussex.

To mark this amazing milestone, Mike Jennings, Deputy Chief Executive and Senior Responsible Officer for vaccination centres, has sent this special message to every single member of staff and volunteer who has made this possible. From the people on the frontline working at the centres, to those behind the scenes making sure that everything is in place to get the centres operational and ensure that people know how to access their vaccination, this amazing feat could not have happened without you.

SCFT vaccination centres in numbers:
  • 500,000 vaccinations
  • Five centres – Brighton, Chichester, Crawley, Eastbourne (and Etchingham, run in partnership with local GPs)
  • Centres open for 5,531 hours
  • More than 2,000 staff have worked 282,315 hours (so far!)
  • 40% of our vaccination centre staff previously worked in the travel industry
  • 1.5 vaccinations are given every minute across our centres, or 88 per hour
  • 823 volunteers have supported our vaccination centres, with amazing support from external organisations, including the Royal Voluntary Service
  • Volunteers have given more than 84,344 hours of their time so far.

Thank you again to every single person who has been involved. You should be so proud of what you have achieved - we couldn't have done it without you.

With best wishes from The Voluntary and Community Development Team.

John Wright, Chair of Sussex Neighbourhood Watch Federation, added his thanks to those volunteers who have kindly given up so much of their time to contribute towards the success of the vaccination programme. These volunteers include many members of Neighbourhood Watch and the Sussex Community Search Team.
