Criminal damage and attempt arson in Newhaven, STREET SURGERY TOMORROW FOR RESIDENTS

Following the below incident, agencies from Saxon House we will be holding a Street Surgery in First Avenue tomorrow Friday 12th June 15.00 – 17.00hrs.

Saxon House Police Prevention, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS), and Neighbourhood First will all be in attendance, to answer questions, offer support and appeal first hand for information.


Original Appeal:

Police are investigating the criminal damage of four cars in a Newhaven in the early hours of Thursday morning (June 11).

Firefighters alerted police at 12.52am after they were called to First Avenue where it was reported that along with the damage, an attempt had been made to set light to the vehicles. A number of windows in the cars had been smashed, possibly with a hammer or similar implement.

A man, described as dressed all in black with a black snood over his face, was seen to run off towards Second Avenue. A police dog unit joined a search of the area, but there was no trace of the man.

Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time or who has any information about the incident or the man is asked to report online or call 101 quoting serial 54 of 11/06.
