Southwater NHW members - coronavirus help for those in need

Alert message sent 17/03/2020 13:15:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

Dear Southwater NHW Coordinators and Members,

Considering yesterday’s news and major step-change in the guidance to follow as the coronavirus outbreak gains a foothold, it’s unavoidable that we will all be affected in the coming weeks, either directly or indirectly. Questions that already come to mind include:

- How are you coping and/or how might you cope?
- Will you need to self isolate? If so, will you need help?
- Do you know a neighbour that needs help now or may need help in future?
- What sort of help may be needed? Shopping? Collecting prescription medicines?

Horsham District Neighbourhood Watch Association (HDNHWA) intends to advertise a ‘Volunteer Helper’ scheme to assist where needed; this will run alongside other volunteer help schemes in Southwater (e.g. Southwater Self-Isolation Support Facebook Page and the Southwater Neighbour Network).

Please ask if anyone in your street or area needs help now or in future; the elderly and/or vulnerable residents will be particularly affected, especially anyone over 70 and/or with underlying health issues. The prospect of several weeks of ‘social distancing / isolation’ is not a nice thought; let’s help where we can and look after each other!

Don’t forget, knocking on doors or popping a note through a letterbox may be needed to include those without a computer or any sort of electronic communication.

Thank You everyone.

Ken Broomfield
NHW Street Coordinator (Nutham Lane and Easteds Lane)
