Alert message sent 06/02/2020 12:29:00

Information sent on behalf of Sussex Police

Thursday 6th February, 2020

Dear resident,

We are aware of recent reports of Burglaries in the Portslade area.

We strongly urge you to do whatever you can to secure your home and keep your items safe and secure.

Make it as hard as possible for opportunists to burgle your home by:

- Keeping your valuables out of sight and reach
- Consider installing a burglar alarm, CCTV or a live stream webcam
- Locking all doors and windows when you leave your home
- Leaving a light on when leaving your home after dark to act as a deterrent
- Consider fitting security lighting, either motion-activated or on a timer
- Ensure gates and rear access to your home is locked and/or secure
- Lock away any tools and ladders so that they can't be used to aid a break in

Remember, if you see anything suspicious get in touch as soon as possible through 101 or online to report it (www.sussex.police.uk).

In an emergency always call 999

Alternatively you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org

Kind regards,
Prevention Support Team.
