News and appeals

A number of arrests were made during this week.  Offences include:- burglary dwelling, actual bodily harm, excess alcohol, driving with no insurance or MOT, drunk and disorderly, actual bodily harm, possession with intent to supply a Class B drug, domestic assault, malicious communications, shoplifting, going equipped, breach of bail, grievous bodily harm, shop lifting, stalking, excess alcohol, affray and drug driving.   
 
Police set to launch Christmas crackdown on drink and drug-drivers
Jingle bells, here’s our cells, open every day; if you drive with drink or drugs, you’ll soon be on your way. This is the message being issued as Surrey Police and Sussex Police prepare to launch their 2019 Christmas crackdown on drink and drug-drivers.
Increased patrols and stop checks will be carried out throughout this month, when there tends to be more social occasions which could result in motorists driving under the influence.
If you know someone is driving while over the limit or after taking drugs, call 999.
Alternatively, people in Sussex can text officers on 65999 with the details of people they suspect of drink or drug-driving, or visit the Operation Crackdown website. 
You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or report it online. 
The campaign is being run in conjunction with the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership and DriveSmart in Surrey.

Identity sought in relation to Chichester retail theft
Police are looking to identify this man in relation to a theft from a shop in Portfield Retail Park, Chichester.
The offence is believed to have happened at around 6pm on Tuesday 12 November.
Anyone who recognises this man, or may have any further information, is asked to report online or call 101 quoting serial 1449 or 15/11

Lumley Road, Chichester- on Friday 13 December it was noticed a burglary had occurred at a house which had been empty for the past two weeks. Nothing taken but access gained through a window.   Serial 1480 13/12
 
Lye Lane, Funtington- overnight on Sunday 15 December a tractor has been stolen.   Serial 0379 15/12
 
A285, Boxgrove- overnight into early hours of Monday 9 December a catalytic converter has been stolen from a car.   Serial 0253 09/12
 
Terminus Road, Chichester- between 05:00pm on Thursday 6 December and 07:30am on Monday 9 December the front index plate of a vehicle has been stolen.   Serial 0581 09/12
 
Garland Square, Tangmere, between 08:30pm on Saturday 7 December and 08:30pm on Monday 9 December a vehicle has been damaged. All four windows have been smashed, the interior has been slashed and all four tyres have also been slashed.   Serial 1360 09/12
 
Between 07:00pm and 09:00pm on Monday 9 December a motorcycle has been stolen.   Serial 1398 09/12
 
Downs Road, Funtington- at around 12:30pm on Wednesday 11 December a van has been broken into and 3x chainsaws and a leaf blower have been taken.   Serial 0710 11/12
 
Main Road, Fishbourne- between 05:00pm on Wednesday 11 December and 09:30am on Thursday 12 December a vehicle has been broken into on the drivers side. Nothing taken.   Serial 0351 12/12
 
Gilpin Close, Fishbourne- between 06:00pm on Wednesday 11 December and 08:20am on Thursday 12 December a vehicle has been entered and Osprey rucksack has been stolen containing glasses and personal items.   Serial 0419 12/12
 
Churchside, Chichester- between 12:10am and 10:00am on Saturday 14 December a vehicle has been stolen.   Serial 0469 14/12
 
Main Road, Fishbourne- between 10:00pm on Friday 13 December and 07:10am on Saturday 14 December a vehicle has been entered and searched, nothing taken.   Serial 1565 14/12
 
Main Road, Fishbourne- between 05:00pm on Wednesday 11 December and 07:00am on Thursday 12 December a vehicle has been entered and searched, nothing taken.   Serial 0649 15/12
 
Mill Quay, Emsworth- between 09:00pm and 11:55pm on Saturday 14 December a headlight from a vehicle has been stolen.   Serial 0979 15/12
 
Parchment Street, Chichester- between 01:30pm and 04:00pm on Monday 9 December the rear passenger window on a vehicle has been smashed.   Serial 0926 09/12

Rookwood Road, West Witterings- between 11:00pm on Sunday 8 December and 05:20am on Monday 9 December a shed has been broken into and a strimmer and battery drill stolen.   Serial 0360 09/12
 
Owers Way, West Wittering- between 06:30pm on Friday 6 December and 07:45 on Tuesday 10 December a property has been broken into. The property was entered by breaking the window on the patio doors. Nothing has been taken.   Serial 1310 10/12
 
Rookwood Road, West Wittering- overnight and into the early hours of Monday 9 December a shed has been broken into and a chainsaw stolen.   Serial 0394 11/12
 
Owers Way, West Wittering- a burglary has been discovered, unknown time frame and unknown if anything stolen. Entry gained through side door.   Serial 0552 11/12
 
Southcote Avenue, West Wittering- between Monday 9 December and Wednesday 11 December a property has been entered and jewellery stolen.   Serial 0675 11/12
 
Manor Road, Selsey- at around 04:30pm on Thursday 12/12 an unknown person has entered a property and taken a walking stick.   Serial 1041 12/12
 
Snow Hill, West Wittering- Between 10:00pm on Friday 13 December and 07:00am on Saturday 14 December a container has been broken into and a quad bike stolen.   Serial 0304 14/12
 
Vinnetrow Road, North Mundham- overnight on Wednesday 11 December a van has been stolen.   Serial 0298 14/12
 
Elmstead gardens, West Wittering- between 04:00pm on Friday 13 December and 09:00am on Saturday 14 December a van has been broken into and windsurfing equipment has been stolen. The equipment includes jacket, 1x board, 3x tails, 3x masts, 1x boom, 2x mast extensions.    Serial 0465 14/12
 
Keynor Lane, Sidleham- between 02:00pm on 5 December and 09:30am on 6 December a car has had two tyres slashed.   Serial 1098 10/12

Shillinglee, Plaistow- at around midnight on Monday 9 December a small barn has been attempted to be broken into. No entry gained, nothing taken.   Serial 0280 09/12
 
Blackdown, Plaistow- between 05:00pm on Tuesday 10 December and 09:00am on Wednesday 11 December a barn has been broken into. Several items have been taken, Makita batteries x3 and battery powered hedge cutters and chargers x2.    Serial 0680 11/12
 
Cooks Pond Road, Milland- between 03:00am and 05:00am on Thursday 12 December a garage has been broken into. Nothing taken.   Serial 1104 14/12
 
A285 Upwaltham, Petworth- between 08:00am and 01:00pm on Tuesday 10 December both number plates have been stolen from a vehicle parked on a drive.   Serial 0678 10/12
 
Hollycombe Lane, Rogate- between 07:00pm on Thursday 12 December and 07:00am on Friday 13 December a vehicle has been broken into. Two windows have been damaged and several items stolen including, two shooting jackets, wellington boots and leather cartridge bag.   Serial 0535 13/12
 
Petersfield Road, Midhurst- between 09:00am and 01:00pm on Monday 9 December a vehicle has been keyed.   Serial 0593 10/12
