OP Blitz Report – Friday 29 November 2019

This weekend’s Operation blitz was conducted by PCSOs Kerr and Furlong. Setting out shortly after 6pm across known areas of ASB in Eastbourne.

Owing to quite a cold and wet in some areas weekend, we saw a decrease in reports of anti-social behaviour across the district on both days.

Nevertheless, the team set out across Eastbourne both Friday and Saturday with visits to the following areas.

Starting with the Beacon area, following reports in the week or groups of youths and young adults causing a nuisance and general anti-social behaviour in and around the Beacon shopping centre. Various groups were out, but none causing any issues, and not any groups known to us. Officers dropped into the cinema and gave the contact details for Blitz to staff should they have any issues during the course of the weekend.

Officers are pleased to reports that no calls were received to the area over the two evenings.

From town, the team headed up to Old Town, where reports of youths congregating and causing damage at the Bowls Club a few weeks back, and also reports of general ASB around Old Town, and Victoria Drive. Both areas were quiet with little activity, bar a few passing residents, all of who were pleased to see officers in the area.

Various conversations were had with residents about ongoing work around youth related ASB in the town, contact numbers were shared along with the message, ‘anything groups acting suspicious, call us, even if you think it is only something small’ – Always call 999 in an emergency, should you witness anything suspicious, or any knife activity; if something has already happened, or is not an immediate danger to you or those around you, please continue to call 101 or use our easy to use webforms online at

The team moved on to the Seafront area, and along to Shinewater, with foot patrols of both areas conducted. Although very chilly, a few groups were out, one group spoken to, all who were happy to engage with officers and on speaking to them provided information to officers that could help with ongoing investigations into recent ASB and damage in the area, so good intel gathered.

Owing to reports of groups drinking in the car park area of Robinson Court, officers gave an extra patrol twice during the evening of the area, and are pleased to report no problems, or discarded items were found.

Shortly before the end of the shift, a call came from the radio to a young vulnerable female who had been brought to our attention by the Chaplains at Beachy Head.  The team assisted collages up on the head with transport to EDGH for a mental health assessment.

Although a fairly quiet evening, and very cold, officers managed to conduct patrols at almost all known areas of ASB, and youth related disorder, and gained valuable intel, as well as offering reassurance to residents in problem areas with high visibility patrols and a Police presence.

The contact number for Friday and Saturday Op Blitz (6pm - Midnight) remains unchanged:  07785 372050

Thank you - Eastbourne Polcie
