Update on last weekend's Operation Blitz activity
Blitz this weekend kicked off by splitting the Operation Blitz teams into two units. We had two officers covering the North of Wealden and the other two were covering the Southern areas.
As a result of the rainy and windy weather we saw a large reduction in the number of calls we received in relation to anti – social behaviour. However, although the weather may have made Wealden quiet from anyone wanting to cause issues, it did not stop the Operation Blitz team from carrying out their patrols in the local hotspot areas.
The team’s first point of call was to the Poundfield Road area in Crowborough following reports we had received throughout the week from members of the public in relation to youths causing issues there. We carried out extensive patrols in the area and we are happy to report that no youths were present at this time causing any problems, as a result we were able to continue our patrols in other key areas.
Officers that were deployed on the South of Wealden patrols carried out checks in other areas that are prone to anti – social behaviour. Again, it appeared that the weather had kept any issues from arising in the usual areas as there was nothing of note to report at any of the locations.
We also found the time to visit the Hellingly Beavers to talk about ‘who we are’ including teaching the youngsters about how we catch people that are doing wrong, but also about how we help people, and can always help them if they ever need to speak to the police.
After we had made this visit it had reached the end of the Blitz shift where there were very little issues to report.
Saturday nights blitz saw a large impact on local policing resources, as various bonfire celebrations were occurring on this particular evening across East Sussex. Your local policing team were dispatched into Hailsham for their annual bonfire celebrations.
The event was a great opportunity for us to engage with the local community and to support Hailsham in delivering a wonderful night of celebrations for everyone to enjoy.
We received two calls on the Operation Blitz phone from members of the public in relation to youths causing issues in the Uckfield area. Unfortunately, the Blitz team were unable to attend due to duties at the Bonfire, however, the local response team assisted and attended the area to conduct patrols.
We would like to send a polite reminder to everyone that the Op Blitz phone is only available on Friday and Saturday evenings between 4pm – 10pm (approx.). If you call outside of these times your call will not be answered.
If you need to report an issue outside of the Blitz running times please call 101 or email email@example.com. Our website also holds lots of valuable information as well as ways of reporting incidents online, you can access this by going to www.sussex.police.uk. In an emergency always call 999.
