Update on last weekend's Operation Blitz activity

Friday:

Friday night’s Op Blitz was patrolled by PCSO’s Kent, Collins, McNirlan and PC Goudie. They began their evening in Newhaven at the Dacre Road Car Park at 5:15pm after they received reports of youths drinking and using bongs in the car park. The officers attended and many youths scattered leaving a few behind. One of them had been seen holding alcohol but had dumped it, for this reason officers attempted to take them home to a place of safety but unfortunately left the area. Both the other youths were picked up and taken home. From here, the officers moved over to the Ringmer Skate Park & playpark next to the village hall. They patrolled around here between 6:00pm and 6:20pm and everything was all in order. Lewes Malling Field was next on the list for the officers were they came across some youths. A Section 59 was given to one of the youths which is a marker for anti-social driving. If they are seen to be driving in an anti-social manner again, the officers would be able to seize the vehicle. The officers then moved over to Newhaven to The West Quay and Shakespeare Hall/Play Area where the officers patrolled around this area between 9:00pm and 11:30pm. They came across a group of 30-40 youths, observed drinking and playing loud music. A number of them scattered when they saw the officers but the rest cleaned the area and were dispersed with no issues.

Saturday:

Saturday night’s Op Blitz was patrolled by PCSO’s Kent, Collins, McNirlan & Stainer, with two cars being deployed to patrol the various areas. Both cars patrolled around the Newhaven, Seaford and Peacehaven areas several times throughout the evening between 6:30pm and 11:00pm. Whilst patrolling the Newhaven Dacre Road Car Park, two youths were seen, who were unknown to the police but chatted politely to officers. Over in the Seaford Slaters Row Car Park, two youths were seen walking through and were advised that this is a private car park and were moved on, to which they did. Other than these encounters, everything else was in all in order - a very quiet Op Blitz for the officers.
