Update on last weekend's Operation Blitz activity

Blitz started a little later this week, due to unforeseen incidents In Eastbourne town centre with our prevention officers/PCSO’s having to attend for an incompliant wanted person’s arrest.  After this was dealt with our main focus and attention was called to the North Harbour Spit and surrounding area.  We had at least three calls from a resident concerning youths on the beach being rowdy/noisy. Each time officers attended the group were nowhere to be seen with nothing but sea for background noise.

Gildredge Park and the seafront promenades between the pier and the Wish tower were visited twice but only a few homeless males were present getting their head down for the evening, so no issues present. The first call of the evening started with a resident near to the Etchingham Road social club, reports of youths being noisy and possibly climbing on the roof.

Upon arrival at the Social Club the youths made off from the location and only one youth was spoken to, which turns out he was not part of the issues at the time.

Previous hotspots Such as Grange Gardens and Victoria Gardens were visited twice throughout the evening but did not create any anti social behaviour issues this evening.

Even with a restricted time for Blitz patrol this evening a healthy Police presence was and is always beneficial and shows local residents that Sussex Police are always here to help even under times of strain in resources.
