Update on last weekend's Operation Blitz activity

Operation Blitz was tasked to PCSOs Gilling & Willson on Friday night who patrolled on foot around Lewes. It was a lovely evening and the Lewes community was out in full spirit. Their first destination was Castle Precinct at 7:20pm, which was pleasant with no youth disorder. Being the living breathing source of community information that we are, we helped two ladies in dire need of directions to the local pub, who manage to find their way…all 20 yards down the road. They checked this area again at 10:40 and there was no one present.

At 7:35pm, the train station was a bustling scene with the football on. We found a group of youth’s that said they were from St Johns. They gave no names as they walked away but were not causing any issues. This area was checked again at 10:30pm.

The Railway land and Linklater were all clear at 7:50pm but the locals had a merry time chatting to us from their luxurious top floor balcony of the newly built houses. The officers returned and checked again at 10:50pm.

When the officers arrived to the Landport estate park, it was totally empty. This area was checked because of recent reports of cars racing around on the field.  However, all the gates were locked and there was no one present when we checked it at 10:16pm.

The officers arrived to Plumpton Playing field at 9:00pm, where a family were getting their cardio in for the day by trying to tire out their kids and dogs! There were no issues here either.

There were no calls to the Blitz phone this week.

PCSOs Stainer & McNirlan were unable to complete Operation Blitz on Saturday evening as they had been tasked to deal with an incident. They did find the opportunity to patrol the Mountfield Road area of Lewes between 11:15pm and 11:45pm whilst they were dealing with a report of some anti-social behaviour from youths. They did not see any anti-social youths throughout this patrol though. The officers rang the person who reported this and we made them aware of Operation Blitz and provided her with information on how to sign up to it.
