Update on last weekend's Operation Blitz activity

Operation Blitz on Friday 13th April commenced at 6pm and focused on the Crumbles Retail Park, Victoria Gardens and the Bowls Club, Woburn Way, Aylesbury Avenue and Rye street. All these areas were all searched and monitored twice throughout the evening.

Patrols were also conducted around the Langney area when a call was received to our control room regarding a group of young adults involved in a fight. Upon arrival the young adults had left and when speaking to the informant they had appeared from a house party and a disagreement had occurred outside. There were no offences that had taken place and the party was shut down. There were no calls received on the Blitz phone on Friday evening.

On Saturdays Operation Blitz It was quite a busy shift. We patrolled behind ASDA at The Crumbles and there was a large group of youths hanging around. The youths were spoken to and most moved on, however, they weren't causing any trouble. We then got called to two wanted persons in the town centre who where both arrested. We had a call on the BLITZ phone from a resident from Maderia Way, involving youths playing 'knock down ginger' and smoking cannabis, an area search was conducted but there was no trace of them. Our Officers then went back to ASDA and there was an even larger group of about 20, most of them ran when they saw us and we spoke to the ones that did stay, no damage was caused and there was no anti social behaviour present. We were then called to help look for a vehicle involved in a Robbery in Hailsham, the vehicle entered Eastbourne and was using the stolen debit cards in the shops. The rest of the areas on the BLITZ were all visited but were quiet and not many people were about.
