Update on last weekend's Operation Blitz activity
Saturdays Op Blitz focused on Peacehaven and Seaford, and was patrolled by PCSOs Disney and Turvey. The evening started off early with a call regarding Travellers turning up at the Meridian Centre in Peacehaven. We headed over to find 9 caravans with several vehicles and several Traveller families from Ireland. They had parked up in the main carpark (South car park) just outside the Co-Op. We approached them with 2 of our other PCSO colleagues and took details of vehicle registrations and caravans; the Travellers consisted of 2 main families from Ireland. Conversations were relatively friendly and non-confrontational; PCSO Turvey and I waited for the security management to arrive who then proceeded in our presence to begin the formal process of verbally requesting the Travellers to leave the site.
During our time at the Meridian centre, Op Blitz taskings were carried out by PCSOs Hart and Marchant elsewhere in Peacehaven, covering Balcombe Road, Lake Drive and Cripps Avenue. No issues were reported at any of these locations. Seaford was next on the list, paying attention to The Crouch and Broad Street. Again, there were no problems to report in these areas.
We stood down from The Meridian and completed the second part of Op Blitz after 9:00pm, revisiting the areas of interest in Peacehaven and Seaford. There were no issues at this later hour caused by youths in the allocated locations. The Traveller site in the Meridian car park was monitored throughout the evening and all remained in order.
