Taxi Fare Scam

Alert message sent 19/02/2018 10:35:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

Dear Members,

We are only too aware of the continuous flow of Scams and Fraud being perpetrated in this area and across the country.
I would share with you an incident experienced by one of our members.
He writes:

My wife and I had been to a restaurant in Worthing one evening........, we were walking towards the taxi rank, when a young woman started to speak to us.
She wanted money for a taxi and was very convincing, but not wishing to depart with £12, we instead offered her to get into a taxi, say where she wanted to go and we would pre-pay her fare.
She started to walk to the taxi then made an excuse to leave.
So it was obviously a scam.”

Scam or not it is yet another example of a “potential” crime and we must all learn from it!
Top marks for the handling of this incident by our Member.

Please “Stay alert, be Vigilant”
