Update on last weekend's Operation Blitz activity

Last Friday, officers started their Blitz patrols in Crowborough where they interacted with a small group of youths on Crowborough Hill. At around 7.30pm we had a report of youths congregating at the William Daly Recreation Ground in Polegate, although there wasn’t anything to suggest they were being anti-social or committing any offences. At around 8pm we had a call reporting a large group of kids being a nuisance in Farriers Way, Uckfield. One of the boys was seen to kick a parked car, although no damage has been reported. Around the same time, a dozen or so youths were seen drinking bottles of Budweiser at the rear of White House Primary School in Hailsham, but had dispersed before we arrived.

At 9pm a fight was reported in Black Path, Polegate. It’s believed a group of drunk teenagers had left a house party and there was a disagreement between a few of them. A dog unit attended and ensured everyone left the area, with the majority leaving on a train. This was a verbal altercation with no obvious offences. Also around 9pm, we had a report of youths playing chicken with vehicles in Gleneagles Drive, Hailsham. It appears this was a group of kids passing through the area and they dispersed whilst the caller was on the phone to us.

On Saturday evening, two youths were dispersed from The Quintins in Hailsham after trying to set fire to some paper cups. We also interacted with a group in Millennium Green, Heathfield and McDonald’s car park in Uckfield. All were very pleasant to officers and weren’t causing any problems to staff or customers.
