Farm Watch Coordinator's Update

This week there were a total of 22 animals reported as loose on the highways of Sussex. This was made up of 12 sheep, 7 cows and 3 horses. Please continue to check your roadside hedges and fences on a daily basis, including those where a railway line passes by.

Two youths, aged about 15, were caught on CCTV breaking into a shipping container and a marquee on a farm in Grange Lane, Selsey. Five cars were also damaged.

A red Kubota tractor, together with an attached homemade wooden 6ft by 4ft trailer, has been stolen from a farm off Hambrook Hill North, North Chichester.

A section of hedging has been stolen from land in Almond Lane, Earnley, Chichester.

A further theft took place at the same premises as above, this time CCTV caught them removing and stealing plants.

Heritage The Church of St Francis & St Anthony in Haslett Avenue West was entered by jemmying the rear fire door and every internal door was smashed through. A repository shop at the rear of the church was also entered by smashing the door. This is the second break-in in the last two weeks. It is expected to cost several thousand pounds to cover the cost of repair.

Three barns and two garages on a farm in Wellington Lane, Ringmer, have been broken into. A pair of gloves were left behind by the intruders. It is not believed that anything was stolen.

A white Transit van was seen on a farm in Lunces Hill, Wivelsfield. It had a registration number similar to ND!3!ZE.

An outbuilding to a farm in Wellington Lane, Lewes, was broken into; nothing appears to have been stolen.

A converted barn on land in Sharpthorne Road, Sharpthorne, was entered overnight by persons unknown. The owner was awoken by voices and saw one man with a mask on. Upon seeing her he made off with at least one other person across fields. Nothing seems to be missing.

1 x large and 1 x small Stihl chainsaw, together with 1 x climbing saw were all stolen from a workshop on a farm in Hastings Road, Northiam.

CCTV captured three men entering farm premises in Trolliloes, Hailsham. The owner disturbed them, they then drove off in a smallish car towards Bodle Street.

Three sheds and a workshop on a farm in Trolliloes, Hailsham, were all broken into by jemmying off the locks. It looks like they were after red diesel but were unable to get any due to the security system in operation at the premises. Nothing appears to have been stolen.

The electric gate to farm premises in Herons Ghyll, Uckfield, were damaged overnight and a barn was forcefully entered. Nothing is known to have been stolen.
